![]() This might actually be my biggest problem(?). I don't think I can do that, but I will try to describe my biggest direct problems:ġ) Getting attacked first. AoW style tactical combat may simply not be everyone's cup of tea. You've got plenty of good advice in this thread otherwise. It doesn't hurt either to reload and try a battle several times trying different tactics. The more fights you do, the better you'll understand your units and the less surprises the enemy will have for you. In a big battle with a dozen units and 6 things happening at once, that is much harder. That way, when something weird or unexpected happens, look in the combat log and examine the unit and find out what it is. It is much easier to start by doing that first fight against those 3 hopper hounds and a beetle. ![]() It is really difficult to just jump in and start trying tactical combat halfway through a game. That you did not learn what mods you should add to fit your playing style. That you did not learn what your armies were missing and added those units. It also means you did not get the time to learn what your units do over many battles. This means that you did not learn from the easy early battles where there are only a few units on each side that don't have that many special abilities yet. The problem may be that you have been mostly playing auto-combat and then try manual combat. In general, use cover, use defence mode (d't end on "red" squares ant try to not fire 1 repeated attack from "blue" zone - better defend and fire 3 attacks next turn). Maybe you should start with dvar game - i think it's the easiest faction for the new players cause trenchers can make cover for theirselves and bulwark have good overwatch ability. Second, tactical battles here are quite hard to master (. he have just the same units and stats as you. They always manage to attack me first, the game doesn't have any useful tutorial for manual combat, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to be doing.Īnd yes, I already made a similar, though less defeated, thread just that the opponent feels incredibly OP when it comes to manual combat and there isn't anything I can do it seems.įirst of all, ur opponent in tactical combat have no "additional" range, accuracy e.t.c. They have more range, they do more damage, they have a MUCH better hit rate, and t doesn't even seem to matter wether they have mods or wether I have mods. They can just DO things I can't (or if I can I don't know how).
